With the Art Club turned into a hangout for Nagatoro and her crew, Senpai has to throw down with the club president to save it from being disbanded。 A popularity contest during the school festival between an art goddess and the cripplingly unpopular Senpai might seem doomed to failure, but。。。I think this series has officially broken my ability to look at it objectively because it is dumb and ridiculously service-y this volume and I still enjoyed the heck out of it。 It’s just a romp from start to With the Art Club turned into a hangout for Nagatoro and her crew, Senpai has to throw down with the club president to save it from being disbanded。 A popularity contest during the school festival between an art goddess and the cripplingly unpopular Senpai might seem doomed to failure, but。。。I think this series has officially broken my ability to look at it objectively because it is dumb and ridiculously service-y this volume and I still enjoyed the heck out of it。 It’s just a romp from start to finish, using the series’ first real go at long-form storytelling to excellent advantage。The Art Club president is a total lunatic who seems to be no less than a raging narcissist whose inspiration is her own body。 It’s one of the wildest takes on the pretentious artist type that I’ve seen and even if it isn’t intentionally so, it keeps going to such insane lengths that it becomes hilarious (you cannot tell me that the use of the word arsenal wasn’t done intentionally)。With a wanton exhibitionist continually escalating her attacks over the volume (the way this part plays out is actually fairly clever), there’s a ton for the entire group to do。 The secret plan the girls come up with to win the day is actually more nuanced than you might have expected, even if it boils down to the same idea。This dynamic between Senpai and the others has been shifting constantly and that character development pays off here。 Nagatoro and Senpai are even more clearly into one another at this point and the brief slips they make are actually really cute。The jealousy of Nagatoro is funny enough, but paired with how she very obviously switches back to teasing Senpai when things start to get too serious as a defence mechanism? Well, we’re a long way from the first volume。It all feels like a well done screwball comedy。 Our scheming gyaru has one particularly hysterical appearance that has spot on comedic timing, which is not easy for a book to pull off。 The overly busty president just happens to have her hands under her assets like 90% of the time。 It all holds together so well and does it with more heart than you’d think。It’s certainly not perfect - if you’re in the market for something that is not layered in boob jokes then this is not going to do anything for you, but much as I’m not the biggest guy for fan service, this one really won me over even with how over the top it goes。 Just know what you’re in for。3。5 stars。 I’m certainly not giving something this incredibly goofy the privilege of rounding up to 4, but it is one of the silliest, most enjoyable volumes of this series yet and shows that a long story arc can work with these characters just fine。 。。。more

TLDR: It's good。 A tad cliche, and less harsh than the previous volumes, but it feels like a natural progression for the characters。 I liked it。 Longer Review: If for some sadistic reason you really enjoyed when Nagatoro crossed the line and began bullying Senpai, then you may not like this volume。 It keeps it a lot more in check。 I feel like this volume does a really good job at strengthening the relationship between our two main characters, and overall makes the main characters all much more l TLDR: It's good。 A tad cliche, and less harsh than the previous volumes, but it feels like a natural progression for the characters。 I liked it。 Longer Review: If for some sadistic reason you really enjoyed when Nagatoro crossed the line and began bullying Senpai, then you may not like this volume。 It keeps it a lot more in check。 I feel like this volume does a really good job at strengthening the relationship between our two main characters, and overall makes the main characters all much more likeable。 The volume is an enjoyable read, much more than previous novels, probably my favorite so far。 If you were iffy on the series, this could probably make you feel better about the series。 。。。more
